Rehabilitating our stormwater system

In 2022 we upgraded 100 metres of a stormwater culvert underneath Turton Road and Womboin Road in Lambton.

We will be installing a new 210 metre stormwater culvert along Macquarie Street and at the intersection of Hanbury Street and Macquarie Street.

We will also be upgrading the existing 277 metre stormwater culvert that runs underground between Macquarie Street and Valencia Street.

Because this work will take place both above and underground, there will be times when we need to partially or wholly close roads temporarily.

We have engaged a contractor, EIRE Constructions, to complete this work on behalf of Hunter Water.

Construction has started and the project is due to be finished by mid-late 2024, assuming the weather is fine and there are no major issues.

We will be replacing approximately 315 metres of the stormwater culvert underneath Christo Road in Georgetown.

Construction at this location has already started, and the project is due to be finished by early to mid 2025, assuming the weather is fine and there are no major issues.

We will be relining approximately 132 metres of the underground stormwater culvert, as well as installing an additional stormwater culvert that passes beneath the intersection of Platt Street and Turton Road, and partly runs parallel with the railway line in Waratah.

Construction on this location has already started, and the project is due to be finished by early to mid 2025, assuming the weather is fine and there are no major issues.
