Rehabilitating our stormwater system

Hunter Water is investing $20 million to give our stormwater network a much-needed makeover. We will be replacing or upgrading the following four priority stormwater culverts by 2024:

  • Turton Road, Lambton
  • Platt Street, Waratah
  • Macquarie Street, Mayfield
  • Christo Road, Georgetown

We understand there will be impacts on nearby residents and businesses while we carry out these essential upgrades, and we will work closely with our community to minimise the disruption where possible.

Why the work is needed

Our 96 kilometre stormwater network is critical for transferring flows, particular during heavy rainfall events, to minimise flooding impacts on our community.

However, some of our channels, culverts and pipes are ageing and no longer meet our needs and those of our customers.
