Updating your personal details
Keep your personal details current so you never miss important news about your Hunter Water account
Whether you have a new phone number, a change of postal address or want to add someone to your water account, it’s important to keep your details up to date.
Updating your details through My Account is quick, easy and only take a few minutes. However, at this time, My Account cannot do everything.
For some updates, you may need to call us, fill in a form online or even contact a third party.

Change legal name / update account name
The name on your Hunter Water account must match the legal property owner’s name recorded with NSW Land Registry Services (LRS). We cannot update your account details directly.
To change your name on your account:
- Update your details with NSW Land Registry Services
- NSW LRS will automatically notify us
- We will then update the name on your Hunter Water account to match the property title

Add or remove an authorised representative - residential
An authorised representative can talk to us about your residential account, including bills and water use.
Add someone to your account
If you want to add a parent, a partner or someone else you trust to act on your behalf, complete our authorised representative form online.
Remove someone from your account
To remove someone you no longer wish to act on your behalf, call us on 1300 657 657, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Add or remove an authorised representative – business
Adding or removing an authorised representative on a business account takes a few steps.
Here’s what you need to do so the process is quick and easy.
Who can be added as an authorised representative?
The authorised representative must hold a role within the business or company. For example:
- Manager
- Accounts Payable
- Administration
Email these documents before you call
We need written evidence in the form of either:
- an email which includes a business signature matching the name on the Hunter Water account,
- a letter on the business or company letterhead, or
- a copy of the ASIC document showing the company name.
Email everything to us then call 1300 657 657, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
Why do we need these documents?
ASIC documents
- Clearly confirm current directors and officeholders
- Searches are up to date and verifiable
Trust deeds
- May show who can act as trustee, but do not confirm who is currently authorised
- May be outdated, incomplete, or not reflect resignations, new appointments or other company changes

Add a managing agent
If you're renting out a property, have your managing agent complete a request form online to access account information or receive bills.
If you’re a managing agent or real estate agency and want client bills sent to your email, submit a request online.
For 10 or more properties, contact us to request a bulk update template.

Someone has passed away
If you've recently lost a loved one, we know it’s a difficult time. We’ve made it simple to let us know so we can update or finalise the account. You can:
- Visit the Australian Death Notification Service (ADNS). This free service lets you notify multiple organisations (including Hunter Water) of a death through one simple, secure online platform.
- Complete our online form below and we will update or close the Hunter Water account.
- Call us on 1300 657 657 Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
