Concessions for medical conditions
Does your medical condition mean you use more water at home?
We understand that some of our customers have medical needs that require higher water use at home, especially those undergoing home haemodialysis.
To help ease the financial burden, we provide a free water allowance of up to 250 kilolitres (kL) per year – that’s around 83kL per four monthly bill for eligible customers.

How to apply
You do not need to apply directly. The Wansey Centre provides us with an updated list of eligible customers each month. You should see the allowance applied on your next bill.
Call us on 1300 657 657 if you have any questions.
What if there is a water outage?
As with all customers, we will notify you in advance of any planned water supply interruptions.
If you have any concerns during an outage, please call our 24-hour Faults and Emergencies line on 1300 657 000
In case of any unplanned supply interruption – such as a water main break – notice may not be given. If this happens, please follow the training provided by your dialysis centre.
Changes to water quality
We will notify The Wansey Centre and NSW Health of any significant changes to water quality that might affect your treatment. Your dialysis centre will advise you on how to respond.
Water quality
Hunter Water manages the water supply from catchment to tap, ensuring safe, reliable and high-quality drinking water for more than half a million customers in the Lower Hunter.
Your drinking water should be clear, colourless and pleasant to taste and smell. It should not contain suspended matter, harmful chemicals or disease-causing microorganisms.
