Formal GIPA application

Proof of authorisation

Attach proof of your authorisation to act on the person’s or organisation's behalf, such as a legal documentation in support of your authority (a client agreement, insurance policy document) or written authorisation from the person or ordanisation concerned.

Hunter Water is obliged to consider the Public Interest when determining the release / non-release of document(s). Personal factors of the application can be taken into account when making access decisions.

When seeking access to personal information, we will need to establish your identity before providing you with any information.

Examples of allowable Certified documents include an Australian Driver's licence, or Australian Passport. Other Certified documents that provide proof of signature and current address details can also be provided.

Have you, at any time applied to another agency for the same information?

We may refuse to deal with an access application if we believe the applicant, or a person acting in concert with the applicant, is a party to a current or pending legal proceedings before a court and/or able to apply to that court for the information.

Fees and charges

Application fee for formal access application: $30.00

The application will not be valid until proof of payment is received.

Processing charges

Additional fees for processing and copying may apply. Processing fees for GIPA access applications are charged at a rate of $30.00 per hour. An advance deposit may be required to be paid for any application that involves more than ten (10) hours processing time.

Discount

Some applicants may be entitled to a 50% reduction in their processing fees. Decisions on discounts to processing fees are not made until the Notice of Decision is being finalised.

If the information sought is released to you and we consider it may be of interest to other members of the public, details about your application may be recorded in Hunter Water’s disclosure log which is published on our website.
