At Hunter Water, we are committed to protecting the environment. We work closely with the Office Environment and Heritage (OEH) to ensure the water quality of our beaches.
Hunter Water collects the data on which the star ratings are based. This beach report is published weekly by the OEH. Learn more about the Beachwatch Program.
Beachwatch programs was established in 1989 in response to community concern about the impact of sewage pollution on Sydney's ocean beaches. The program was extended to include bathing beaches in the Hunter Region.
The programs provide regular and reliable information on beach water quality to enable people to make informed decisions about where and when to swim.
There are 17 beaches monitored in the Hunter Region.
Further information about beach water quality can be found at the Beachwatch website.
