Bandon Grove community flood preparation and dam safety meeting – next steps

This is the second community meeting about flooding, dam safety, and preparing for and recovering from a flood or dam related emergency. This session is designed for residents or owners of properties between Chichester Dam and downstream to the Bandon Grove bridge.

Venue: Bandon Grove School of Arts Hall, 1230 Chichester Dam Road

Date: Thursday, 20 November 2025

Time: ‘Drop-in’ any time between 4pm and 7pm

Refreshments: Sandwiches, slices, juice, tea and coffee will be provided

During the September meetings at Bandon Grove, we heard community concern in three main areas:

• The need to improve access to communication during an emergency.
• The need to improve communication between Hunter Water and the community both during an emergency and on an ongoing basis.
• The need for property owners to have easier access to inundation maps and other information to help them prepare for and act during a flood or dam emergency.

There won’t be formal presentations at this meeting – please ‘drop-in’ between 4pm and 7pm. We’ll talk to you about the next steps, and listen to any suggestions and questions you have.

A key focus will be providing information and support so you can decide what actions you will take at your own property/residence during flooding and when dam safety alerts are issued. Representatives from Dungog Shire Council, NSW Reconstruction Australia and other agencies will also be attending.
