Meter testing

If you feel that your meter isn't recording accurately, you can contact us to request that your meter be tested. You will be responsible for pre-payment of this test, but if the meter is found to be inaccurate, we will refund you this fee.

Once completed, we will advise you of the meter testing results and make available a written report on your request.

If results indicate that the meter is over-recording or under-recording, see information below on what we will do.

  • Test indicates over-recording

    If the test indicates that the meter is over-recording by more than four per cent of the actual quantity of water passing through it, we will:

    • repair or replace the meter
    • refund any charge paid by you for the test, and;
    • adjust your account by calculating the measurement error on a basis in line with what you would usually be paying.
  • Test indicates under-recording

    In the instance that the meter is under-recording by more than five per cent of the actual quantity of water passing through it, we will repair or replace the meter and refund any charge paid by you for the test.

    We will replace the meter at no cost to you if the meter:

    • is found to be defective
    • can no longer be reasonably maintained
    • is replaced as part of a meter replacement program.
