Meeting with landowners

During our design phase we identified a number of project constraints. As a result, the project will take longer to deliver, and cost more to build. Read on to find out more.

As mentioned in the previous community update, we encountered site constraints which will significantly impact the project’s aesthetics, budget and function.

Hunter Water welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement that planning approval has been issued by the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for a desalination plant at Belmont to produce up to 30 million litres a day of drinking water in response to drought.

Work to remove a small area of juvenile mangroves and sediment from Throsby Creek, near the Union Street footbridge in Tighes Hill, is now complete.

Some of the concrete tank traps, removed from the shoreline in October 2020, have been relocated toward the front of Hunter Water’s land along Fullerton Street, Stockton.

Hunter Water is pleased to announce the commissioning and availability of sewer connections as part of the Wyee Sewer Scheme, from 1 June 2021.
