Commissioning and sewer connection availability announced

Published 24 May 2021

Hunter Water is pleased to announce the commissioning and availability of sewer connections as part of the Wyee Sewer Scheme, from 1 June 2021.

We acknowledge that we have experienced challenging conditions and significant wet weather during the construction period, and we sincerely appreciate the Wyee community's patience, cooperation and understanding over this time.

What this means for property owners

Property owners (or their licenced plumber) will be able to make an application to connect to the Wyee sewer network from 1 June 2021. Throughout the coming months you will still see our contractor continuing to work in the area to complete any remaining restoration works.

Understanding and starting the connection process

We previously provided property owners with a connection booklet (See folder) which outlines the process you need to follow in order to connect to the new sewer system. We encourage you to familiarise yourself again with this booklet.

We recommend that you submit an application after you have appointed your preferred licenced plumber. Your licenced plumber may also submit an application directly to Hunter Water on your behalf. For ease of service and for efficient processing, we encourage you to make an application via the button below. Hard copy applications will also be accepted. If you are having issues with completing or submitting the application please call 1300 657 657 to speak with a friendly customer service representative.

Locating your sewer connection

Your sewer connection has been marked on your property with a white peg in the ground (or a paint mark), and should be consistent with the tailored home plan that has been provided to you by the contractor, Monadelphous. If you are unable to locate the white peg, have removed your peg and/or remain unsure of your property connection location, please contact Hunter Water.

If your licensed plumber is unable to locate the connection point, we request they dig one metre either side of the expected connection location to a depth of 1.5 metres. If after doing this they are still unable to locate the connection or it is found to be faulty, your licensed plumber should contact Hunter Water on 1300 657 657 (available from 8am to 5pm weekdays) for assistance.
