Farley Wastewater Treatment Works Upgrade

The $70 million upgrade of the Farley Wastewater Treatment Works is almost complete, with testing and commissioning of the system now underway.

The upgrade will ensure we can continue to cater for our community and the population growth expected between now and 2032.

Background

Farley Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) was built in 1984 and services Bolwarra, Gillieston Heights, Largs, Lorn, Western Maitland, Telarah, Rutherford, Aberglasslyn and Lochinvar.

Community benefits

The upgrade will increase the capacity of the Treatment Works to cater for future growth and improve the reliability and performance of the plant. The treated wastewater will also be of a higher quality, which supplies recycled water to the nearby suburb of Gillieston Heights where 770 homes have recycled water for non-drinking use.
