New Grahamstown Dam Spillway Completed

The Grahamstown Dam Spillway was completed and provided for a 50 percent increase in storage capacity for the dam.

Construction of a new spillway and embankment was completed in December 2005, increasing the top water level of the dam to 12.8 metres and capacity to approximately 190 billion litres of water. These works also allowed flood flows to be discharged from the dam safely.

The project provided for population growth in the Lower Hunter by taking advantage of existing water resource infrastructure.
