Expanding Water Supply to Military Camps

The Board undertook a considerable amount of important construction work for the Defence Department, including extending water supply to military camps at Greta, Largs and RAAF bases at Williamtown and Rathmines. When Port Stephens was selected as a general site for allied servicemen's camps and depots for water equipment, the Board catered for the military's water and sewerage services. The total cost of defence work during this year totalled £305,000, followed by £230,000 in 1943
