Throsby Creek Bank Rehabilitation Works

Overview

Throsby Creek_website

As part of our ongoing program of works to improve and enhance our stormwater assets, Hunter Water commenced construction works in early February to rehabilitate degraded sections of the Throsby Creek embankment . The areas focused for rehabilitation ares located along two sections of the creek running through the suburbs of Maryville and Tighes Hill.

The rehabilitation works along the banks of Throsby Creek will:

  • improve the visual amenity of Throsby Creek
  • protect and enhance the local environment

The works involve constructing rock toe protection and rock revetment on the creek bank located predominately behind the existing mangrove populations, as well as battering the bank.

The works on the Southern side embankment were completed by the end of March 2012. The works on the Northern side of Throsby Creek commenced on Wednesday 21 March 2012 and should be completed by the end of May 2012, weather dependant.

Please see the map on the factsheet available from the Information tab for further information. The works are being undertaken by Soil Conservation Services on behalf of Hunter Water.

 How this might affect you?

As part of the works, improvements will also be made to the stormwater outlets under Graham Bridge. While this work is underway, traffic control will be in place along Throsby Street. Access to your property however will be available at all times. During the works there will be increased noise and dust. All efforts will be made to minimise these impacts.
