Hunter Water has undertaken a staged upgrade of the existing wastewater system in Kurri Kurri which involved upgrading the Kurri Kurri 1 wastewater pump station and rising main. A new emergency storage has been constructed as part of this upgrade to reduce overflows.
This upgrade will reduce weather overflow impacts on customers and the environment and will improve reliability and security of supply. The upgrade also caters for future development of the region, which is anticipated with the forthcoming construction of the F3 to Branxton link.
Work commenced on this upgrade in January 2010 and has being complete in January 2013.
The work was carried out by Kerroc Constructions Pty Ltd on behalf of Hunter Water.
