Water and wastewater systems update

Hunter Water’s crews and system controllers continue to monitor our water and wastewater network closely and are responding to ensure it remains safe and secure, as heavy rain and strong winds persist across the region.

As at 5:00pm, all customers have water supply. Our teams are rostered to monitor water storage dams, Chichester and Grahamstown Dams, on a 24-hour basis with any changes to alert levels at the dams communicated to the State Emergency Service and, as required, to downstream residents.

The heavy rain continues to cause widespread impacts on the wastewater network.

We are prioritising our current workload to respond appropriately. If households or business owners experience internal surcharge, property damage or have safety concerns please call Hunter Water on 1300 657 000 to speak with an operator.

We know wastewater overflows may impact some properties in low-lying areas. We are assisting those people who’ve called us and if other customers experience ongoing issues, they can call our 24/7 team on 1300 657 000.

We advise people to avoid swimming in local beaches and waterways for at least two days after the wastewater network returns to normal operating conditions.
