Project update - May 2021

Published 14 May 2021

We're continuing to progress the design of the meandering creek option for the naturalised rehabilitation of Munibung Creek in Cardiff, which was supported through our community consultation in 2019/2020.

Earlier this year, we received the 70% detailed design for review and feedback prior to progressing to 100% design. The review process has highlighted a number of site constraints which will significantly impact the project’s aesthetics, budget and function. This has resulted in project delays as we work with subject matter experts and specialist contractors to further analyse the proposal and ensure we can achieve the desired outcome for the community. These experts will help us refine and finalise the design and firm up an estimated construction timeframe for the rehabilitation works.

Over the coming months neighbouring residents may notice some contractors onsite who will be undertaking further investigations to inform the design and construction process. Some of these investigations may involve plant equipment being brought onto site for a short period of time.

More information will be shared as the detailed design progresses. We thank the local community for their patience as we endeavour to deliver the meandering creek option while also ensuring it will function as it should and stand the test of time
