Our Executive Team

Our Management Team consists of the Managing Director and five Executive Managers. The Executive Management Team oversees policy implementations, day-to-day management of our people, and the delivery of services to our customers across the different divisions.

Kim Wood

Kim Wood | Managing Director 

BEng, DipEng, MBA, FIE (Aust), FAIM

Kim was appointed as Managing Director of Hunter Water Corporation in November 2011. He was previously the CEO of Queensland's Allconnex Water, which he helped establish in 2010. 

He has extensive utility experience as a CEO, having led a number of electricity and water utilities throughout Australia.  He was the inaugural CEO of City West Water and then went on to head the Victorian electricity transmission business, GPU PowerNet .  Other CEO roles have included the Northern Territory Power and Water Corporation, and Queensland power generator Stanwell Corporation. His experience includes past private sector leadership roles in the telecommunications industry, firstly as Managing Director of GEC Plessey Telecommunications and later with publicly listed company, DataFast.  Kim has also had extensive experience as a company director, including several industry association directorships. 

He has prior senior management experience with the Australian operations of both Hewlett Packard and Bell South.  He originally commenced his working career as an engineer with Victoria's State Electricity Commission.

Stephen Phillips Exec

Stephen Phillips | Executive Officer and Company Secretary

Stephen has over 24 years' experience fulfilling senior and executive positions within government, ASX 200 and Fortune 500 companies as well as serving as a Director on industry, government and NFP Boards. He is also a Chartered Company Secretary. He has a broad professional background from a career that has spanned a diverse range of industry including utilities (water, energy and telecommunications), State and Local Government, ICT and professional services. Prior to his current appointment Stephen was General Manager Customers and Commercial Development within Hunter Water Corporation and also served as Company Secretary. Stephen is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and a Fellow of the Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA). He is also a member of the Commercial Law Association of Australia (CLA) and the Law Council of Australia (International Law Section).

As Executive Officer and Company Secretary, Stephen oversees delivery of shared services across Hunter Water including:

Dean Taylor Exec

Dean Taylor | Executive Manager Customer Services

B Com, MEBM, CPA, AMIEAust, GAICD

Dean has been with Hunter Water for over 25 years in a variety of operational and management roles. He has extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of all of our water and wastewater infrastructure. Dean was the General Manager System Operations and Company Secretary prior to taking up his current role.

Dean has a degree in Management Accounting, Master of Environmental and Business Management and is currently a CPA, member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.

Fiona Cushing

Fiona Cushing | Chief Finance Officer

BSc, MAcc, CPA

Prior to her appointment to this role, Fiona worked in a number of different positions within Hunter Water including Manager Finance, Senior Business Analyst and Team Leader Corporate Reporting and has 15 years experience working in the financial industry at both Hunter Water and also PricewaterhouseCoopers. Fiona has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Newcastle, a Master of Accountancy from Charles Sturt University and is a member of CPA Australia.

Jo Martin Exec

Joanne Martin | Chief Information Officer

B Bus (Banking & Finance), GAICD

Joanne was appointed as CIO in April 2012 leading the Information Services division. Information Services is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of ICT systems and the management of information to support the business operations of Hunter Water. Included in this is the responsibility for the Business Improvement function within Hunter Water, primarily responsible for achieving and maintaining ISO accreditation.

As Chief Information Officer, Joanne oversees:                                                                               

  • Information management policies, processes and personnel
  • ICT strategy, planning and project management
  • Enterprise architecture
  • Management of applications, computer security, telephony, spatial & GPS systems
  • ICT infrastructure and network management and operations
  • Desktop services and support
  • ISO accreditation

Prior to her appointment to this role, Joanne was Hunter Water's General Manager People and Change. As well as over four years experience in the water industry, Joanne has over 17 years experience in the financial services industry. She previously worked for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia holding a variety of positions within a number of divisions gaining experience in finance, people management, strategy development and project and change management. Joanne is also a past Director of the Hunter Trade College. During her directorship Joanne chaired the Finance, Audit and Risk committee and was a member of the Strategic Planning and Industry task forces.
