We're proud to employ a team that is committed to both our vision and purpose. Meet some of the passionate and hardworking faces behind Hunter Water and read their stories of what working at Hunter Water means to them.
Team Leader Catchment Operations
"The value of our environment has always been important to me. I saw Hunter Water as intimately reliant on the environment and supplying an environmental service that everyone cares about, and given this, there is potential to make an impact.
In my role I challenge people to question whether the way the organisation does things is the best way to do them. Often it’s just working to remove a roadblock that frustrates people, but isn’t part of their job."
Rhys works to make Hunter Water a more sustainable organisation.
Frances works to understand the community values for waterways in our region and plans infrastructure to ensure Hunter Water's sewerage systems have the capacity to deliver these values and protect environmental health now and into the future.
Frances' role is in long term strategic planning for sewerage assets. Her job involves collaborating with other water utilities and organisations to ensure we are delivering the best outcomes for our customers and community.
Electrical Maintenance Planner
Mick’s role involves all of the work on a weekly basis for the Electrical Northern, Electrical Southern, Electrical High Voltage and Automation teams including organisation of all parts and resources required to perform the work.
He joined Hunter Water straight out of school after completing his HSC in 1986. He applied for an electrical apprenticeship and was the successful applicant commencing in January 1987, and has been with Hunter Water ever since.
He knows that his team is the best at what they do and that it does make a positive difference to the services we provide.
Civil Maintenance Trainee
Candice is a Civil Maintenance Trainee, looking after water and sewer. On the Water side of things she helps the crews fix pipes by either putting clamps on an existing pipe or putting a new pipe in. When it comes to sewer maintenance, she often uses a high pressure water jet to clear blockages in the sewer pipe.
She works in a small team and values the positive impact they have on the community.
In her spare time she plays semi-professional rugby league for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
"I am an economist, which essentially involves helping Hunter Water make good decisions. I joined Hunter Water because it was the perfect opportunity to apply my craft in a fun, smaller coastal town for a company with a great reputation.
What I value most about working for Hunter Water is the trust of my boss and freedom to employ my skills around the organisation wherever I believe I can add value."
Ben serves Hunter Water in ensuring we make the best financial choices for our business.
Program Manager - Go Digital
Amber works within the Information and Communication Technology division at Hunter Water as a Program Manager. She is responsible for developing, planning and delivering the Go Digital program that is part of Hunter Water's Digital Strategy.
"I work closely with the business to provide them with the technology solutions they need to deliver their strategic objectives and best service for our customers and community."
Team Leader Development Services - Delivery Team
Dean works in the Development Services Group within the Customer Strategy & Retail division where he reviews and approves new developments within Newcastle and the Hunter region - anything from a granny flat in someones backyard to a 2,000 lot subdivision.
His role involves reviewing water and sewer infrastructure designs for new developments, liaising with designers and contractors and engaging with the development community to promote Hunter Water's vision of supporting good development within the region.
