We're proud to support events across our region that align with our purpose and help to drive awareness of water conservation and sustainability.
Events we have attended in your neighbourhood
As one of the largest community events in the Newcastle local government area, Surfest plays an important role in the beach culture of the region, bringing together a range of diverse community members with a common interest. Surfest welcomes over 850 national and international male and female competitors to Newcastle, from more than thirty countries. Hunter Water continuously supports this iconic event by providing fresh drinking water to spectators and competitors via our Hydration Station and engaging with our community about the best water saving tips.
Living Smart Festival
The Living Smart Festival is one of Australia’s largest sustainability festivals. Held at Speers Point Park in Lake Macquarie, the festival showcases a weekend full of workshops, cooking demonstrations and sustainable living ideas to the community. Hunter Water has played an important role at the festival over the years by providing attendees with fresh drinking water via our Hydration Station, handing out giveaways such as 4 minute shower timers, trigger nozzles and reusable drink bottles and encouraging the community to adopt better water habits in and around the home.
The Newcastle Show
The Newcastle Show has been attracting locals since 1902 with livestock parades, show jumping, displays, exhibits, carnival rides and more. Hunter Water has supported the Newcastle Show by providing visitors with fresh drinking water via our Hydration Station and has worked with the team to support and educate the community on how to save water while still growing edible backyard produce.
Community event participation
We look to support events across our region that have a conservation or sustainability focus and provide a genuine opportunity for our team to engage with the community.
We would like to know what you think about what we’re doing and how we’re doing it, about our current projects and initiatives and about how we can all best use our water. To protect it and treasure it.
We're passionate about educating our community on water conservation, and are proud to offer grants through our Love Water initiative that help the community to conserve water.
