Shower Timer Program

We can't control the weather but we can control how much water we use. So we are taking every opportunity, big and small to try and help our community make changes to their water usage habits.

Our shower timer is your visual cue and reminder to help keep your showers to a maximum of four minutes.

The delivery commenced on Monday, 3 February 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions

 Question  Answer
When will you be in my area? Delivery will begin in Lake Macquarie and follow with Port Stephens, Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock and Dungog.

What if I received a shower timer but don't want it?

Shower timers can be returned to one of three Hunter Water offices located in Newcastle, Speers Point and Maitland. Alternatively, you can pass the timer onto a friend, family member or neighbour to help save our most precious resource!

Offices are located at;

  • Hunter Water Head Office at 35 Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle NSW 2333
  • Lake Macquarie City Council at 126-138 Main Road, Speers Point, NSW 2284
  • Maitland City Council at 285-287 High Street, Maitland NSW 2320

What if I have two bathrooms, can I have another shower timer?

Our program delivers one shower timer to each household. If you would like another timer, please join us at one of our many community engagement events being held in the coming months.

What if I receive my timer and it is broken? Please email us with your property address and we will send you a replacement.

I want to opt out of receiving a timer, what do I do?

We respect that not all households want a shower timer. Please email us with your property address. If delivery in your area is yet to be scheduled or hasn't already been delivered, we will remove your property details from the shower timer delivery.
I did not receive a timer, what do I do?

Please email us with your name, phone number and property address and a member of our team will contact you. Please allow five business days for a Hunter Water representative to be in touch.

If you have any other enquiries, please contact our Call Centre on 1300 657 657.

This shower timer is not a toy and should be used under adult supervision and for its intended use only. It contains small parts and could present a choking hazard. The internal component of the timer is made entirely from glass and the outer casing of plastic, which may cause laceration or injury if dropped or broken. Please affix to glass or tile surface only. Shower timers are designed to reduce consumption of water through awareness of the length of showers. They are not for precise time measurement. Timers may work more accurately if used consistently as the sand runs more freely.
