Overview
Hunter Water is planning to construct a new water main in Cessnock. We are currently designing the water main and determining the exact location.
The new main will cater for future residential and business growth in the Cessnock area and improve water pressure to existing and future customers.
Currently, up to 2,330 customers in the Cessnock and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure during times of high demand.
We are currently beginning discussions with residents, property and businesses located near where the new water main is likely to be constructed.
Some of the new pipeline will be constructed using an open trench. Where the new pipeline needs to cross Allandale Road and Maitland Road 'underboring' will be used so there will be minimal disruption to traffic. It is likely that where the new pipeline runs between Allandale Road and Church Street, underboring will also be used to reduce inconvenience to businesses nearby.
Construction is due to begin in early 2020.
