Refund for Tillegra Dam

In November 2010, the NSW Premier announced that the proposed Tillegra Dam project would not proceed and that money paid by customers towards the dam would be refunded to customers.

The refund amount has been independently calculated by the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART). IPART has based the value of this refund on the size of a property's water meter. For example, a typical standalone house has a 20mm water meter and will receive a $36 refund.

This amount will vary for some houses and units depending on the type of property and size of the water meter. Your meter size can be found on page two of your bill.

The credit is shown as 'Refund for Tillegra Dam' on the front of Hunter Water bills received in the March - June 2011 billing cycle.

Refunds have been calculated on a pro-rata basis for new connections made since 17 July 2009 (the date when contributions towards Tillegra Dam commenced).

IPART has also adjusted water prices moving forward. The service charges from 1 March 2011 through to the end of the 2012-13 financial year have been reduced to reflect the removal of the Tillegra Dam component.
