Hunter Water is committed to increasing and maintaining the amount of water that is recycled within industry.
The Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme will result in 12 Megalitres (ML) of treated effluent a day being transferred from the Shortland Wastewater Treatment Works to a newly developed water treatment plant which will produce nine ML per day of highly treated recycled water for use by various industrial customers on Kooragang Island. This scheme will result in over 300ML/year of drinking water being saved.
