Recycled Water Schemes

Hunter Water's long term plan for the region includes a $700 million dollar investment in infrastructure to deliver safe highly reliable water services, cleaner waterways and enhancements to our local environment. Increasing the quantity and quality of recycled water that is reused also plays a major part in securing our water future.

  1. Branxton Irrigation Water Scheme Thumbnail

    Branxton Irrigation Water Scheme

    Location: Wine Country Drive, Branxton and North Rothbury

    Hunter Water has completed construction of a new 10km pipeline to provide recycled water to major golf courses and farmers within the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).
  2. Kooragang Island Thumbnail

    Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme

    Location: Shortland and Kooragang Island

    Timeframe: Construction commenced February 2013

    Hunter Water plans to construct the Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme to produce recycled water for customers on Kooragang Island.
  3. Tree Planting

    Tree Planting for Carbon Offsets

    Location: Grahamstown Dam, Chichester Dam and Irrawang

    Hunter Water will plant 300,000 trees and shrubs to offset more than 80% of the 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions produced by the Lower Hunter Recycled Water Initiative.
