Overview

Hunter Water has replaced a major pipeline between Tarro and Shortland to improve regional water security.
This pipeline provides the flexibility to transfer water between Dungog and Grahamstown water catchments, and is a critical link in Hunter Water's supply network.
Laying the new 900mm pipeline underground, and changing the route of the pipeline and removing the old above ground pipeline has provided both environmental and operational benefits for the local environment and community.
Hunter Water appreciates the cooperation of the local community during these essential upgrade works.
Hunter Water currently has no plans to sell the land along the existing pipeline route. However, if they do in the future, it would first have to be approved by Hunter Water's operational and planning departments to make sure that we do not and will not have a future need for the land. Following that, we would need approval from the Hunter Water Board of Directors. If approved, it would be sold through the tender process.
