Cardiff Wastewater Pump Station Upgrade

Overview

Cardiff Wastewater Treatment Plant Image

The Cardiff 1 wastewater pumping station pumps sewage flows to Edgeworth Wastewater Treatment Works from the suburbs between Argenton and Charlestown, Edgeworth and Boolaroo. The pumping station is located next to Brush Creek within Waratah Golf Course, Argenton.

This infrastructure is a major wastewater asset for Hunter Water and is currently being upgraded in order to meet the needs of the growing population.

The upgrade will also reduce the frequency of wet weather sewage flows reaching Lake Macquarie which provides further benefits for the local community and the environment.

The work involved upgrading the pumps and electrical equipment at the pumping station and building a new wastewater pipeline across Brush Creek.

Works were completed in accordance with an approved construction environmental management plan.
