Cardiff Wastewater Pump Station Upgrade

Overview

Cardiff Wastewater Treatment Plant Image

The Cardiff 1 wastewater pumping station pumps sewage flows to Edgeworth Wastewater Treatment Works from the suburbs between Argenton and Charlestown, Edgeworth and Boolaroo. The pumping station is located next to Brush Creek within Waratah Golf Course, Argenton.

This infrastructure is a major wastewater asset for Hunter Water and is currently being upgraded in order to meet the needs of the growing population.

The upgrade will also reduce the frequency of wet weather sewage flows reaching Lake Macquarie which provides further benefits for the local community and the environment.

The work involves upgrading the pumps and electrical equipment at the pumping station and building a new wastewater pipeline across Brush Creek.

Works are being completed in accordance with an approved construction environmental management plan.

How this might affect you?

Residents close to the Waratah Golf Course on Margaret Street, Argenton and along Garth Street, Edgeworth may notice a slight increase in truck movements during construction.

Measures are being taken to minimise any impacts generated by the works.

Your patience is appreciated as we undertake these essential construction works.

Work commenced in November 2010 and is expected to be completed by May 2012.
