This program provides students with hands on experience, allowing them to put their studies into practice as part of an active work environment.
With her Industry Scholarship extending her degree by a year, Civil Engineering student, Sarah, is excited about being a scholar for five years and the opportunity the yearly placements bring.
“The first placement has already complimented the theoretical knowledge I’ve gained during my first year of University,” she said.
”As I handle more challenging tasks at Hunter Water I know that my second, third and fourth years of study will be a fraction less stressful. I firmly believe that having an Industry Scholarship has given me significant advantage over other students who attend university full time”.
Common feedback from Industry Scholars acknowledges the benefit of interaction with the workplace, and the competitive edge this provides.
Sarah said that as a first year student she was amazed by the level of responsibility she was given, including writing reports that graduate engineers might begin to learn only after they have entered the workplace.
