Ausgrid's large regional office at Wallsend has achieved amazing water savings through Hunter Water's Business Water Efficiency programs.
The savings started in 2010 when Ausgrid participated in the Hunter Business Water Savers program, which identified 1,700 litres of savings per day through bathroom and kitchen upgrades.
Encouraged by how easily so much water was saved and due to high water use on the gardens, Ausgrid's and Hunter Water undertook an audit of the irrigation system.
The audit found a number of potential improvements, which now having been implemented are saving Ausgrid an additional 24,500 litres per day, or roughly four Olympic sized swimming pools per year.
Overall, the Hunter Business Water Savers Program has identified water savings in excess of 190,000 litres per day over the last two years, which is approximately 28 Olympic size swimming pools in a year.
