Hunter Water is able to provide opportunities to undergraduates from a number of disciplines.
UNISS Scholarships
Hunter Water sponsors the University of Newcastle Industry Scholarship Scheme (UNISS), which offers an integrated scholarship program that combines degree studies with meaningful industry experience. The program is structured so that you are either on placement or studying, not trying to do both.
Features of UNISS include:
- Financial support throughout your degree
- Different program schedules involving the development of both academic and industry-based skills
- The UNISS scholars at Hunter Water are drawn from a variety of disciplines
- UNISS scholars are rotated throughout the Corporation to maximise learning opportunities
UNISS aims to develop the outstanding professionals of the future. This is achieved through a three-way commitment between the University, Hunter Water and the scholar. UNISS has been designed to enhance the educational experience of the scholar by providing them with skills relevant to industry and an understanding of the culture and ethics integral to the workplace.
Further information about the UNISS program can be accessed through the University of Newcastle.
Vacation work
Hunter Water offers a small number of Industrial Trainee opportunities to undergraduate engineers who would like to gain meaningful industry experience.
Industrial Trainees generally work within the organisation for a period of 10 weeks over the summer vacation. This opportunity generally suits those entering their final year, and is usually advertised on the University Job Board during the month of August.
