Requirements of our trade waste policy

Hunter Water controls the discharge of pollutants by commercial and industrial customers through our Trade Waste Policy specifies the discharge volume and quality required.

To meet the requirements of Hunter Water’s Trade Waste Policy, non-residential customers are often required to use a pre-treatment process to remove gross pollutants before discharging waste to the sewer. For example, most food outlets need to install an appropriately sized grease arrestor. See pre-treatment facilities for more details.

How to make a formal agreement with us

The Trade Waste Policy includes a printable version of a Trade Waste Agreement which must be completed by all commercial and industrial (i.e. non-residential) customers of Hunter Water and lodged with us at one of our Customer Centres.
