Tradewaste

If you are a commercial or business customer of Hunter Water, it is important for you to:

• Understand the requirements of our trade waste policy
• Make a formal agreement with Hunter Water regarding your wastewater discharge.

Hunter Water is bound by an Operating Licence under the Hunter Water Act 1991, which requires us to meet Environment Protection Licence conditions, issued and controlled by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.

The Environment Protection Licence specifies what can be discharged into our waterways from Hunter Water’s treatment facilities. This means:

• Some substances are completely prohibited from discharge
• Strict limits are set on other pollutants being discharged into waterways.
