Waterwatch

Waterwatch

Waterwatch is a schools and community water quality education and action program. Waterwatch groups carry out water quality monitoring including physical, chemical and biological parameters. Hunter Water has been involved with the Waterwatch progam since its inception in 1993.
Catchment and environmental education for their participants and stakeholders is a primary objective. Waterwatch encourages cooperation between community groups, schools, local government, Catchment Management Authorities, government agencies and industry to ensure that everyone plays a role in keeping the waterways clean and healthy.
The Waterwatch network has existing monitoring groups from the entire area of responsibility of Hunter Water from the Lake Macquarie, Hunter and Karuah-Great Lakes catchments.
Waterwatch empowers participants to take responsibility for their environment and to initiate change.
