Burwood Beach Wastewater Treatment Works Stage 3 Upgrade
Planning has now begun for the Burwood Beach WWTW Stage 3 Upgrade.
The upgrade will ensure the plant can service the long term needs of the community over the next 30 years.

A new Community Reference Group (CRG) has recently been formed to help plan for the Stage 3 upgrade works.
The group includes representatives from a broad range of community interests and has an independent chairperson.
It held its first meeting on 1 July 2010 and will continue to meet on a regular basis through to mid-2012.
The CRG will help Hunter Water identify the issues which need to be considered as part of the upgrade planning process.
These could include issues such as wastewater recycling options, water and wastewater quality, visual amenity, costs and environmental impacts.
In addition to input from the CRG, Hunter Water is keen to hear feedback from the broader community in relation to the issues which need to be considered at Burwood Beach.
Please email the Project Team or contact the Project Manager, Lauren Randall, on 02 4979 9754.
As part of the planning process Hunter Water will also work with external stakeholders to develop a list of options to be considered for future upgrade works at the site.
These will then be subject to a community consultation program before a preferred option is determined for the long-term (Stage 3) upgrade works for Burwood Beach wastewater treatment works.
The preferred option will need to consider environmental, social, economic and technical impacts, as well as comply with government regulations and operating licence conditions in the short and long-term.
