Q: I have a Pressure Sewer System. What does this mean?

Pressure Sewer Systems (PSS) comprise a small wet well and a grinder pump called a PSS unit. This PSS unit pumps your sewage through pressure mains to a discharge location within our sewer system. Each individual property within either a development or identified backlog area will have its own PSS unit installed.

PSS units have a single collection well, where all household sewage is contained and then the sewage is pumped via the grinder pump into a pressure main. The pressure main is laid shallow and not graded and the pipelines are smaller in diameter than conventional gravity systems.
