Recycling
Hunter Water Corporation is using recycled water as one approach towards the long-term management of the water cycle and the reliable delivery of water and wastewater services to the Lower Hunter Region, while also ensuring confidence in public health and environmental protection. Hunter Water has several recycled water projects currently in place and new opportunities for the future. HWC’s recycling achievements are reported annually in the Integrated Water Resource Plan Report.
RECYCLED WATER FOR HOUSEHOLDS
- Dual reticulation will be provided for new developments at Thornton North and North Cooranbong. Recycled water will be delivered through a “third pipe” system and will be of a suitable quality to be used for toilet flushing and outdoor uses.
- Hunter Water supports the reuse of greywater by households, however, it is not within Hunter Water Corporation’s capacity to supply information on installing, treating and using greywater devices and treatment systems within your household. For more information please see your local council and visit Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability Greywater for guidance.
