Pensioner Rebate

Hunter Water grants NSW government funded rebates to assist Pensioners and low income customers such as people on the Age, Disability Support and Service Pensions. 

  • Rebates apply to houses and home units (strata or community life) whicha re owned and occupied by an eligible customer.
  • To be elegible for pensioner rebates, you must have one of the following:

    *  Pensioner Concession Card
    *  Dept of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card embossed with TPI/TII or 
        war widow/widower or Extreme Disablement Adjustment (EDA)
  • Rebates may be granted to an eligible customer who jointly owns and occupies a property.
  • There are circumstances where the applicant is not occupying the property but are given a rebate.
  • There are circumstances where the applicant is not the owner of the property such as under the terms of a Life Tenancy / Sole Beneficiary or similar agreement but still are given a rebate.
  • Hunter Water relies on advice from Centrelink and the Department of Veterans' Affairs to confirm eligibility for rebates. It is recommended that eligible cusotmers check their bill ech quarter to ensure that their rebate has been granted.
  • It is important to notify Hunter Water of your pension details if there is a change in your situation. For example, if:

    *  you buy property to occupy
    *  you move or change your mailing address
    *  you are away for a long period of time
    *  your personal circumstances change through divorce, separation or death of a spouse or joint property owner
