Moving House

Buying or selling a property?

When you buy or sell a property you, your solicitor or conveyancing agent usually asks us for one or more of the following to assist with the property sale process:

  • Conveyancing certificate
  • Sewer location diagram.

To request one of these services, please complete a Section 47 application form and fax or mail to Hunter Water with your payment, alternatively, fast electronic access to these products and services is available through the Land & Property brokers who can provide this information online.

Water-related issues to consider

Ask your solicitor or conveyancing agent:

  • How is the water usage adjusted at settlement? Your solicitor or conveyancer will proportion the costs between the two parties based on the sale date using the information provided on the Section 47 Certificate. You do not need to contact Hunter Water to have your water meter read or to have the water connected/disconnected.
  • How is your ownership updated? Your solicitor or conveyancing agent notifies NSW Land and Property Information (LPI) of the change and they forward the information to Hunter Water. This may take 4-6 weeks.
