Tillegra Dam
Tillegra Dam is an integral part of the Hunter Water's plan to secure the water future of the Lower Hunter region for at least the next 60 years. Subject to receiving the necessary approvals, the proposed 450 billion litre dam is to be built in the upper Williams Valley (north of Dungog) at an estimated cost of $406 million.
Hunter Water formally lodged a report with the NSW Department of Planning on 3 March 2010, following its comprehensive review of submissions on the Environmental Assessment Report for Tillegra Dam.
A number of important issues were raised in the submissions and Hunter Water addressed them in the report. All things considered, the case for Tillegra Dam remains sound. The report clearly demonstrates that Hunter Water’s modelling is robust, endorsed by independent experts, and in line with practices adopted by other water authorities.
