Munni House was part of an original land grant made to John Mann in 1828. The nearby Manns Hill was named after John Mann.
Edwin Smith acquired the property from a bank which had foreclosed when the Mann brothers became insolvent. Originally a spread of 4,400 acres, Munni House is situated in the centre of a property that enjoys long frontage to the Williams River. The homestead’s original portion dates to the Mann ownership era but was substantially extended by Edwin Smith in 1884.
The homestead is rich in period features including cedar woodwork, high ceilings and marble fireplaces. There are also historic slab sheds built around the same time as the main homestead. Under the current red roof remains a shingled roof similar to that visible in the outbuildings near the homestead.
