Our Heritage Assets

Hunter Water is required to maintain a Heritage and Conservation Register under section 170 of the NSW Heritage Act 1977 (the S170 Register). This Register lists Hunter Water assets which have been identified as having State or local heritage significance. Many of the items on the S170 Register have also been listed in other heritage registers, such as the State Heritage Register, or on Local Environmental Plans.

At present, the Hunter Water Heritage Register contains 9 items, including items of state and local heritage significance. All items identified as having State heritage significance are also listed on the State Heritage Register, maintained by the Heritage Council of NSW  http://www.heritage.nsw.gov.au.

Many of Hunter Water’s small heritage assets (e.g. pumps, bowsers, cranes etc.) are located at the Walka Waterworks at Scobies Lane, Oakhampton, near Maitland.
