Boulder Bay wastewater treatment works upgrade

The Boulder Bay wastewater plant was built in 1994 and treats wastewater from the townships on the Tomaree Peninsular. The plant is being upgraded to cater for population growth.

Options for upgrading the plant have been investigated, together with assessments of environmental impact. Construction is expected to start in 2008.

The upgraded plant will have sufficient capacity until approximately 2028. The level of treatment will be improved such that bio-solids leaving the site can be readily used for applications such as mine site rehabilitation. This will be achieved while remaining within the bounds of the current site and continuing to meet tight community and environmental requirements.
